This is the third time US President Donald Trump's official visit to Taiwan, after the visit of Health Minister Alex Azar and Deputy Foreign Minister Keith Krach.
A US official is visiting Taiwan, said the island's foreign affairs agency on November 22.
Taiwan's foreign service agency said the island "welcomes the visit of US officials", and affirmed the interaction between the two sides was "regular".

"The detailed visit schedule has not been announced, based on mutual trust between Taiwan and the US, we will not comment or explain further," said the Taiwanese foreign affairs agency.
Previously, the Taiwanese media reported that CIA Director Gina Haspel led the delegation to visit the island. However, in a separate statement issued on November 22, the Taiwanese foreign agency denied the above information and said that Ms. Haspel had no plans to visit the island.
Last week, Taiwanese cabinet head To Trinh Xuong said the island was about to host the US Environmental Protection Agency's director Andrew Wheeler. However, Mr. Wheeler's visit will take place in December, Taiwanese media said.
Taiwan is an island under Chinese sovereignty. Beijing has repeatedly objected to American officials visiting Taiwan, accusing such visits of violating the "One China" principle.
Recently, some senior US officials including Health Minister Alex Azar and Deputy Foreign Minister Keith Krach visited Taiwan in August and September respectively. Beijing responded by deploying pressure fighter Taiwan during both visits.
