From the foot of the Sang Trang 2 bridge running along the riverbank, about 2km towards Highway 91B, you will reach a hamlet with adjacent households, specializing in living by producing bean sprouts.

In Binh Phuoc area, Phuoc Thoi ward, O Mon district, there are 5 families working in producing bean sprouts. In which, there are 3 households who are sisters of the Truong surname, with nearly 20 years of working experience.

There are 2 more households, sisters of the Nguyen family, who have succeeded in their parents' profession, making prices for more than 5 years. Making bean sprouts, it's easy to see at first glance, but some apprentices are still unable to do it all year.

Ms. Truong Thi La, the oldest price maker here, said: “All stages need technology. In particular, only the stage of setting the tofu is so that when brewing beans, turning the tofu upside down to drain the beans without falling out, many learners still fail. Next is to choose quality beans, brewed with ceramic jars, with substrate lining and net cover for price with good grip and development.

Average price of each jar is brewed from 1.4kg-1.5kg green beans. Standard technique, good yield is that each jar has to be harvested from 12-12.5kg price. With the average selling price of 6,000 VND / kg, minus costs, for each bean price jar, the price maker makes a profit of 10,000-12,000 VND ”.

Previously, Ms. La's family lived by farming. Her husband La, from Tien Giang province, used to work for a bean sprouts factory of an acquaintance in Ho Chi Minh City, so he learned a job. After marrying her, he returned to O Mon to live in his son-in-law and also brought this profession here to settle down. Initially, they lived with their parents, the whole family of 6 members, each one helping out.

From only brewing about 5-10 jars / day, a few years later, the number of jars has increased to several dozen. After getting married, La's two younger brothers also worked as a wage maker to earn extra income. Ms. Nguyen Thi Le, Ms. La's mother, said: “So we work at leisure, but our income is higher than farming. Since this career, we rent out field land to support extreme.

After 20 years of developing the price-making profession, up to now, all 3 of my children have invested in a separate house to incubate prices. Every day, the lotteries sell 50 jars of prices, approximately 600kg. In which, La and his wife do the most. Price becomes the main and main source of income for the child ”.

Quickly turning her hand around, watering more than 20 jars of prices, Ms. La said: “This profession is very extreme in that it is frequently exposed to water. Who is not familiar, hands and feet are easy to "water". Not to mention also have to stay up all night to care and harvest prices.

Usually, every 4 hours for the price of water hydrated 1 time. The last watering time is at 0:00 on Thursday night after incubation to have a white and beautiful price before harvest, and sell to you at 1am ”. To get the daily selling price, Ms. La arranged 5 rows of jars arranged in order, 1 day apart. For every batch of selling prices, a new batch of beans is brewed to replace the blank.

Every night, after taking out all the prices and weighing them into the bags, her husband and wife La is in charge of handing over to customers in neighboring markets and many restaurants in the area. He delivered until 3 am to finish 1 turn. Until 10 am, start communication for the second turn, then have a break

Producing large quantities, Ms. La hired more workers to support the stages of "hydrated" prices, withdraw and weigh prices. Ms. La said that on the occasion of the Lunar New Year or the big full moon days, the New Year's Day, the demand for this vegetable increased by one and a half times compared to normal days.

And these are also the best times of production in the year, providing a better source of income for the family. Over the past 20 years, thanks to the production of bean sprouts, Ms. La and her two younger brothers have a stable income, bringing their children to school.
